SEÁN MCARDLE

Architect, Painter & Sculptor

Seán McArdle is a polymath with a Master of Arts degree with a focus in Architecture and Building Arts and intensive post-graduate Fine Arts training in the classical methods of drawing, painting, and sculpture. Seán has been interested in the architecture of Western Europe since a scholarly Architectural Design and History Professor, Donald J. Bergsma (1934-2009), recognized Seán for his early interests and became his mentor for over a decade. His mentor’s knowledge and intellectual passion opened Seán’s mind to the basic tenets of Renaissance humanism: that humans are limitless in their capacity for development. 

Seán spent his final undergraduate semester studying Architecture in Vicenza, Italy followed by Masters of Building Arts and Architecture studies at the University of Florida and University of California, Berkeley, College of Environmental Design. Seán has continued his professional work in the fields of architecture while pursuing classical education in the allied arts of drawing, painting, and sculpture. 

Seán’s passion is to foster the continuity of knowledge of the classical tradition of architecture and building arts as a vital aspect of innovation in contemporary culture and education. Drawing inspiration from innovative work made by architects and artists in their own respective century who have enriched our built environment, artistic consciousness, and our collective future. 

One of Seán’s highest honors is to be a Council of Advisors volunteer for The Florence Academy of Art, committed the highest level of instruction in classical methods of drawing, painting, and sculpture for students wishing to pursue careers as professional artists in the Realist tradition and also addresses the creative and professional position of the artist in a contemporary environment.
